About
The Planning and Environment Committee meets at 7.00pm on the third Wednesday of the month at the Parish Council Office in Victory House. They meet to discuss planning and licensing applications submitted within Ripley.
Ripley Parish Council is a statutory consultee for all Ripley Parish planning and licensing applications. This means that Guildford Borough Council, who make the final decisions on all planning and licensing applications, are legally required to consult with Ripley Parish Council before a decision is made on applications within the Parish.
However, Ripley Parish Council does not make the final decision on planning and licensing applications – these are made by Guildford Borough Council.
The Planning and Environment Committee reviews each planning and licensing application against the policies in the Lovelace Neighbourhood Plan (LNP) and make a recommendation for approval or refusal based on submitted plans, public comments on proposals and reports made by other departments and outside bodies where appropriate e.g. the Environment Agency and Historic England. Their recommendations are then submitted to the local planning authority, Guildford Borough Council.
This recommendation is then included in the Case Officer’s report.
Where the Parish Council’s view is contrary to the Case Officer’s recommendation, the application can be called in to the Guildford Borough Council Planning Committee for a decision, otherwise the Case Officer will make a decision under delegated powers.

Public Attendance & Speaking
Planning and Environment meetings are open to the public and there is no need to register your attendance beforehand.
Members of the public have the right to speak at meetings of the Planning Committee during the consideration of planning applications. The purpose of the right to speak is to give members of the public the opportunity to make their views known directly to the Committee.
