🛠 How to Report a Problem using FixMyStreet
FixMyStreet is the quickest way to report issues like potholes, blocked drains, flooding, damaged pavements, or street lighting problems in Ripley.
✅ Before You Begin
You’ll need:
- A location (postcode or street)
- A photo (optional but very helpful)
- Your email address (for updates, unless reporting anonymously)
📍 Step 1: Go to the Reporting Page
Visit FixMyStreet for Surrey County Council.
You can also download the FixMyStreet app for easier mobile reporting.
🗺 Step 2: Find the Location
Type in a postcode, street name, or tap “Use my current location” on your phone (location settings must be on).
📌 Step 3: Pinpoint the Problem
Use the map to click exactly where the issue is. This helps the council locate it faster.
🗂 Step 4: Choose the Issue Type
Start typing (e.g., “pothole” or “flooding”) or pick from the list of issue types.
📝 Step 5: Fill in the Details
Describe the problem clearly. Include things like:
- When you noticed it
- How serious it is
- If it’s blocking the road or a footpath
📷 Step 6: Upload Photos (optional)
You can add up to 3 images. If you’re using a mobile, take a photo on the spot.
✍ Step 7: Add a Title & Your Details
Give your report a short title, like “Blocked drain on Newark Lane”.
You can:
- Report anonymously (no email updates)
- OR provide your name/email to get updates
You’ll receive an email to confirm your report—don’t forget to click the confirmation link!
🔁 Step 8: Check for Updates
You’ll get an enquiry number and email updates as the issue progresses. You can also:
- View your reports under “My Account”
- Add updates or more images (if the issue is still open)
- Subscribe to reports in your area via Local Alerts
📢 Other Tips
- If the issue looks resolved but you believe it’s ongoing, you can still submit a new report.
- You can “subscribe” to someone else’s report if it matches your issue by clicking “This is the problem”.
