Eastern Villages Flood Forum

Ripley Parish Council participates in Eastern Villages Flood Forum meetings, chaired by Zöe Franklin MP, and attended by representatives from neighbouring parish councils, Surrey County Council, Guildford Borough Council, Thames Water, and the Environment Agency.

These forums aim to facilitate collaboration, information sharing, and coordinated action between agencies and communities affected by local flooding. Ripley Parish Council is represented by Cllr Paddy McLaughlin and the Assistant Clerk.

We aim to hold three meetings per year, in addition to a local flood site walkaround. Dates and agendas will be posted on the Ripley Parish Council website in advance.

Objective of the Forum

The purpose of the Flood Forum is to:

  • Coordinate the work of different flood risk management agencies;
  • Gather local data and resident feedback on flood risks in Ripley;
  • Support the development and delivery of practical, place-based solutions.

Ripley and surrounding areas have experienced repeated and serious flood events. Surrey County Council recognises Ripley as a medium-to-high flood risk area.
