Shanly Homes are beginning construction works at the former White Horse Yard site, located just off White Horse Lane, Ripley. This webpage is designed to keep residents informed about what to expect during the works. We will continue to work closely with Shanly Homes and local authorities to minimise disruption and keep Ripley informed throughout the development.

The approved scheme includes:

  • 20 houses and 6 apartments
  • Construction access via White Horse Lane
  • An expected build duration of approximately 80 weeks (just under 2 years)

๐Ÿ—๏ธ What Will Happen and When

Phase 1: Site Preparation

  • Installation of secure hoardings and access gates in Shanly Homes colours
  • Site accommodation and welfare units will be set up
  • Demolition of existing structures
  • Disconnection/diversion of services and installation of temporary utilities

Phase 2: Groundworks & Infrastructure

  • Excavation and strip foundations
  • Drainage, sewer connections, and service installations
  • Temporary haul roads and turning areas created within site

Phase 3: Construction

  • Traditional brick and block construction
  • Landscaping and public realm works towards the final stages
  • Phased handover of completed units to avoid extended disruption

๐Ÿšš Traffic & Deliveries

All deliveries:

  • Will access the site via White Horse Lane
  • Will be strictly scheduled to prevent traffic build-up
  • Will be overseen by a Banksman to manage safety near the site entrance

No deliveries will be permitted without prior booking.

๐Ÿงน Cleanliness & Safety

Shanly Homes will:

  • Maintain a wheel washing station to prevent mud on the road
  • Deploy road sweepers as needed
  • Monitor and suppress dust using water sprays
  • Recycle waste materials where possible

A Site Manager will be contactable for any concerns (details will be displayed on hoardings).

  • Monday to Friday: 7:30am โ€“ 6:00pm
  • Saturday: 7:30am โ€“ 1:00pm
  • Noisy or dusty work outside these hours is prohibited

๐ŸŒณ Trees and the Environment

Trees around the site will be protected under BS 5837 standards, ensuring:

  • No excavation or parking near roots
  • No fires or storage within protected zones
  • Any required protection fencing will be installed prior to work commencing

๐Ÿš— Worker Parking

  • On-site parking is very limited
  • Construction workers will be encouraged to use public transport or car share
  • No unlawful parking on public roads will be permitted
